My name is Jonathan Lopez — though many people in the music industry know me as itswho401.
Music didn't start as a business for me. It started as survival. I lost my father when I was young and was raised by two mothers who dedicated their lives to giving me the best future they could. I watched both of them pass away. Those experiences changed me forever — and like a lot of people carrying that kind of loss, I went looking for something to help me process the pain and find purpose. For me, that something was music.
What started as an escape became a passion. I threw myself into DJing, production, songwriting, and artist development. Over the years I traveled across the country performing, building relationships, and learning the industry from the ground up — every show, every conversation, every connection teaching me how the music business really works.
As my career evolved I moved deeper into production, beat-making, and songwriting — and eventually found my real passion in helping artists navigate their own journeys. Today I manage developing artists and work closely with musicians at some of the most important stages of their careers.
Years performing across the United States — building relationships and learning the business firsthand.
Beat-making and songwriting collaborations with respected artists and producers including Mr. Exoh, Gavin Quinn, and Dr. Witchdoctor — plus EDM work alongside Petty God and Ecka Music.
Developing and managing artists today — the same work behind the BTF founding roster. Came up under hip-hop and DJ manager Magic Love, and a member of the Bay Area's MURMC music community.
Through all of it, I've seen firsthand how hard this industry can be. I've watched talented artists get overlooked because they lacked resources. I've seen creators taken advantage of by unfair deals, false promises, and people looking to profit from their dreams. Too often, artists are forced to choose between giving up ownership of their work or giving up on their careers altogether.
I knew there had to be a better way. Most artists don't need millions of dollars to change their lives. Sometimes they just need studio time. A music video. Marketing support. Guidance. A chance. The industry is full of people willing to invest after an artist becomes successful. Very few are willing to invest before.
Beyond music, I'm a father and a husband. My family is the reason I push forward every day — they remind me that success isn't measured by money or fame alone. It's measured by the impact we have on the people around us. Everything I've experienced — the loss, the struggle, the lessons, the relationships, the wins and the failures — has led me to this mission.
